Camden/Rockport, Maine - Kathy Hopkins will lead a presentation on Maine’s maple syrup industry at Merryspring Nature Center on Tuesday, February 26 at 12:00 noon.

Guests will receive the sticky details on Maine’s maple sugar industry as Hopkins provides an overview of sugar production, including the science behind the sweet stuff and its role in the Maine economy. Hopkins will also provide tips and tricks for those who wish to tap their own maple trees for home syrup production.

Hopkins is an Agriculture and Natural Resources Educator through the University of Maine Cooperative Extension Somerset County office. She received her M.Ed. in science education from the University of Maine in 1996 and her BS in Plants and Soil Science in 1977, also from the University of Maine.

This talk is part of Merryspring's 2013 Winter Talk Series, co-sponsored by The First and Allen Insurance and Financial.  Admission is free for Merryspring members, with a nominal fee of $5 for non-members.
