Scarborough, Maine - The Friends of the Scarborough Library will debut their new "Friends Literature Series”, starting this month. For this inaugural year, the theme "Murders They Wrote" focuses on a genre of choice for many Scarborough Public Library readers.
The first program in this series of four events, to be held on Sunday, October 21 at 2:00pm, in the Library Public Meeting Room, will offer a bit of something for every murder mystery fan. Paula Keeney and Ann Whetstone, owners of Mainely Murders Bookstore, have devoted their entire collection to suspense, crime, and detective fiction. They will offer a bit of history about the genre, and will follow with a look at popular titles - from traditional British and American classics to today's interest in darker noirs.
This event is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will beserved. FMI, visit the Friends' website at
