University College atRockland offers Secondary Education Certification [Rockland] - Students with or withoutbaccalaureate degrees who wish to teach at the high school level nowcan earn their credentials through University College at Rockland.The Secondary Education minor and certificate program are offered bythe University of Maine at Augusta online and through videoconference at URock.The Secondary Education pathway isavailable for undergraduates and for those with baccalaureate degreeswho wish to become high school teachers in Social Studies, English,Mathematics, Science, and Art.Undergraduates enroll in a majorassociated with the content area in which they want to teach and adda minor in Secondary Education. Maine certification rules requirestudents to successfully complete at least 24 credit hours in theircontent area.Students with baccalaureate degrees andat least 24 credit hours in an endorsement area can complete thenecessary courses and student teaching experience through aCertificateof Study in Secondary Education.Courses available for the fallsemester, which begins September 4, include:
- EDU 250 Foundations of Education (online and video conference)
- EDU 390 Secondary Methods of Teaching (video conference)
- PSY 345 Problems and Interventions in Childhood (interactive television)
