Ben Trout, (right), a freshman at West Salem High School, and Eagle Scout, hands a folded flag to First Sergeant William Boyd, of the 115 Mobile Public Affairs Detachment, following the unit’s mobilization ceremony at West Salem High School in Salem, Ore., June 25. Boyd’s unit will spend about one year deployed to Afghanistan, in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Trout, an Eagle Scout with Troop 127, was completing a two-part project for the Boy Scouts of America; the first to provide a pocket constitution and voter registration card to every graduating senior in the Salem-Keizer School District. The second was to hand out folded flags to all deploying Soldiers, “So they can always carry a little piece of home with them and know that we appreciate them here at home,” Trout said.
